• If you or a loved one is in an emergency situation or is at imminent risk of harm to self or others, please contact 000 or attend the nearest hospital.

If you or a loved one has acute mental health symptoms and needs timely support, call the NSW Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511 (24/7). They may be able to refer you to your local mental health service if you are eligible. If you are not eligible, they can make other referral suggestions.

If you need immediate counselling support call Lifeline 13 11 14 (24/7).

  • If you are eligible for the Medicare rebate under the Better Access Scheme you will require a written referral from your GP. Your GP will complete a current Mental Health Care Plan with you.

Otherwise, you can book yourself in as a standard fee paying client with no referral necessary.

  • The scheme is to assist eligible individuals to access mental health treatment. You require a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), which is a referral provided by your GP and is generally written if you have a diagnosable mental health condition that is impacting your functioning.

When you go to your GP to request a MHCP you will require a longer GP appointment than normal (about 30 minutes).

Under a MHCP clients typically come for 6 sessions before they are required to return to their GP for a review in order to access the next 4 sessions via Medicare.

Note: If you have been referred by your doctor with a Mental Health Care Plan, it is a requirement under Medicare that a brief letter be sent from your psychologist to your doctor after six sessions and after ten sessions (or at the completion of treatment if earlier than 10th session). This letter will provide a brief summary of your treatment progress.

  • From 01 July 2024, Clinical Psychologists attract a Medicare rebate of $141.85 and Registered Psychologists attract a rebate of $96.65 per standard session (50 minutes) if you have a current Mental Health Care Plan. This applies for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

You are required to pay for the session in full and we process the Medicare rebate online for you. Medicare will then pay the rebate amount to your nominated bank account. The gap fee (session fee minus the rebate) is payable by you.

  • The Australian Psychological Society (APS) publishes a recommended schedule of fees. The 2023-24 Recommended Schedule of Fees has suggested a standard 45 to 60 minute consultation fee of $311. Our fees are set below this rate at $270 for Clinical Psychologist and $215 for Registered Psychologist, for standard 50 minute sessions (subject to annual review).

Early morning or evening session times can attract a surcharge, to be discussed prior to booking these times.

Cognitive Assessments and reports have their own fee schedule. Please enquire for pricing as it depends on which assessments you are requesting.

We are not a bulk-billing practice.

  • Your ability to access a rebate from a private health insurer will depend on your level of cover and any specific requirements of your health insurer. We recommend that you check with your health fund to determine the specific details of your cover.

Please note you can usually only claim rebates through either Medicare or your private health insurer for any one session (not both).

  • You can cancel your session up to 48 hours in advance without attracting a cancellation fee.

If you cancel with less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours notice, you will be charged 50% of the session fee.

If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or don’t show for the session, you will be charged 100% of the session fee.

Regarding cancellations, the time is calculated based on the time stamp of your phone call, voicemail or email to the clinic. If you phone the clinic and leave a message to cancel, the time of that voicemail will be the time used.

We understand emergencies do happen sometimes. If that is the case please call us to discuss what happened.

Remember, you cannot claim a Medicare rebate for a psychology session you did not attend or have cancelled late.

  • The fee for a Cognitive Assessment depends on the assessment type/s and any additional screening that is required. There are standard fees for the Cognitive/Academic assessment (which measures intellectual functioning and academic functioning).
